You should consider segments of the old You Are There series that used to run Sunday evenings and narrated by Walter Cronkite. It had ghastly footage of bombing carnage inflicted on Germany toward the end of WWII. I was about 4 or 5 and tried to never miss an episode. It ran in the early ’50s and showed corpses piled high in bombed-out shells of buildings. It was on the CBS network. Of course this long before ratings took the fun out of network TV, leaving PBS to show us close up operations on Sundays and Thursdays.
